After a decade of ongoing conflict in Syria, women have emerged as the majority in Syrian society, comprising more than half of the population. Recognizing the significance of this demographic shift, it becomes crucial to prioritize their development and engagement. In response, EPISA has taken the initiative to concentrate its efforts on empowering women through the Active Women for Development (AWFD) program. By implementing meaningful initiatives, AWFD aims to advance women development, equality, environmental sustainability, ensure equal access to education and healthcare, and advocate for the rights and well-being of women.
- Gender Equality: We believe in the inherent value and rights of all individuals, regardless of gender. We work towards creating a society where women and men have equal rights, opportunities, and representation.
- Empowerment: We are committed to empowering women and girls, enabling them to exercise their agency, make informed choices, and have control over their lives. We support women in developing their skills, confidence, and leadership abilities.
- Inclusivity: We embrace diversity and inclusivity in our work, ensuring that the voices and experiences of all women, including those from marginalized and vulnerable groups, are heard and taken into account. We strive for a society where no woman is left behind.
- Collaboration: We believe in the power of collaboration and partnerships. We work closely with local communities, civil society organizations, government entities, and international stakeholders to achieve our goals. We believe that collective action is essential for creating lasting change.

- Women and Girls: Our primary target group is women and girls in Syria and neighboring countries. We aim to empower them, promote their rights, and create equal opportunities for their active participation and leadership in all aspects of life. This includes women and girls from diverse backgrounds, including those from marginalized and vulnerable groups.
- Survivors of Violence: We specifically focus on providing comprehensive support services and assistance to survivors of violence, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and harmful practices. Our programs aim to help them overcome the trauma, access necessary resources, and rebuild their lives with dignity and security.
- Underserved Communities: We target underserved communities, particularly those facing socio-economic challenges, limited access to education and healthcare, and environmental vulnerabilities. By addressing their specific needs and barriers, we strive to promote inclusivity and ensure that no woman is left behind in our efforts.
- Women Interested in Political Engagement: We actively engage and support women interested in participating in the political life of Syria and neighboring countries. We provide training, mentoring, and resources to enhance their skills, confidence, and leadership abilities, enabling them to take part in decision-making processes and contribute to policy development.
- Women Entrepreneurs and Job Seekers: We focus on women entrepreneurs and job seekers, providing them with skills training, entrepreneurship support, and access to economic resources. By promoting their economic empowerment, we aim to create equal opportunities for women in accessing jobs, leadership positions, and decision-making roles.
- Environmental Advocates and Activists: We engage and collaborate with women who are passionate about environmental conservation, sustainable development, and climate change mitigation. We provide them with knowledge, resources, and support to actively participate in environmental initiatives and promote sustainable practices within their communities.
