On February 7, 2025, EPISA joined the Syria reflection meeting with EuroMed Rights which brought together Syrian civil society actors and key stakeholders to assess the challenges and opportunities for a democratic and inclusive transition in Syria. In solidarity with Syrian human rights defenders, the meeting analyzed the geopolitical context and the role of regional actors while exploring ways for civil society to contribute to a unified Syrian state. Discussions addressed EuroMed Rights’ commitment to justice, accountability, and victims’ rights, with a gender-sensitive approach and transitional justice mechanisms. The meeting resulted in an actionable roadmap outlining priorities for engagement and advocacy, particularly at the European Union level, and strengthened collaboration among Syrian civil society and international partners to advance justice, reconciliation, and inclusive governance.
